was a wealthy businessman and philanthropist who founded several education institutions in Mumbai.& elsewhere ...
The Byramjee Jeejeebhoy College and
the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Parsee Charitable Institution in Charni Road, South Mumbai, as well as
Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College in Pune are three of the notable institutes founded by him.
In October 1830, the British East India Company leased Byramee
seven villages between Jogeshwari and Borivili, that totalled over 12,000 acres (49 km2).
Also given to Byramjee was Land's End, Bandra, a cape with the Bandra Fort that became known as the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Point for an annual rent of Rs. 2800 .
Byramjee built a beautiful, large mansion as his personal home on the hill overlooking the fort..
[ Lands End is a peninsular strip of land that juts into the Arabian Sea, with a fort at its tip and a hill that comes below the fort's vista.
In 1640, the Portuguese built a fort known as Castella de Aguada,meaning , Fort of the Waterpoint, also known as the Bandra Fort
It was built to serve as a watchtower overlooking Mahim Bay, the Arabian Sea and the southern island of Mahim ]..
Byramjee Jeejeebhoy built a road parallel to the sea in Bandra named as Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Road which runs from St. Andrews to Lands End, was built by Byramjee Jeejebhoy at his own expense and opened to public in 1878. A stone recording this event can still be seen at the junction of Jeejeebhoy Road and Bhaba Road in Bandra.
A horse racing prize, the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Eclipse Stakes Of India, is named after him

A young man called Lucazinho Ribeiro hailing from Sokolwaddo, Assagao in Bardez Taluka can be called the innovator of the Tiatr because he along with brothers Caitano Fernandes & Joao Agostinho Fernandes from Raia and others staged the first Tiatr performance on the occasion of Easter on 17th April, 1892. The name of the first Tiatr staged was "Italian Bhurgo". This Tiatr was written and directed by Lucazinho Ribeiro hence he can be called the creator of the unique form of Konkani drama called Tiatr. It was staged @ the Alfred Theater in Bombay ! This was the FIRST & this became extremely popular entertainment among Goans ! It was revolutionary !

The Worst tragedy of Dec.3,1901 on the feast day of St.Francis
the steamboat " Goa'" carrying the Bardesh Catholic faithfuls to Old Goa ,
that sank in the middle of Mandovi river ...resulting in
the death of 81 unfortunate victims ..
The relatives of these Catholics who were then working in Aden
[which was a British Colony then & it was in the Old Bombay Province with Bombay as it`s capital ] these Adenese Goan relatives from the Victims` Bardesh villages collected funds & built the cross in the memory of their relatives at the very place where the bodies were removed from Mandovi ..near Ferry Wharf of Panjim !
The cross was erected in in 1903/4 .
